A Few Words About Us
Welcome to the Lanka Children's and Youth Theatre Foundation (LCYTF), the home of Somalatha Subasinghe Play House. Established in 1981 by the legendary playwright, Somalatha Subasinghe, we have sought to nurture musical theatre for children and youth in Sri Lanka. In 2007, our journey was recognized through incorporation by an Act of Parliament.<
Over four decades, we've been able to present a range of productions while providing a space for young artists to develop their talents. Our approach gently balances artistic exploration with developmental principles, offering children opportunities to discover confidence and imagination through theatre.
We serve as the Sri Lankan representative to ASSITEJ International, connecting our local theatre community with peers around the world. Through our annual Theatre Festival for Young Audiences in Colombo, we create a platform where young performers can share their stories and grow together.
